go ahead and get started and we are recording the session so I want to welcome you to this evening migratory student interstate interstate coordination conference and this session is on supporting students and parents and Pam do the csel West resource I have a few items I need to make you aware of you will be directed once you complete once you leave this session you will be receiving a pop-up and that's evaluation for the session and we highly recommend that you will fill it out but that way you can give it to your honest feedback so that we can be signed into session if you have any question please keep yourself committed at all times and if you have any questions go ahead and put them in the shop and I will be doing that and I will be packing time to Sharon okay so I'm going to go ahead and turn it over to her thank you I am going to go ahead and get us started we do need a little bit of music before we kick it off here so in the chat so I know who I'm working with here if you what heater are take a moment to listen to music while more people are coming in and just what state you're coming from and what is your job title wonderful secret hope that we might get someone from Kentucky today that is my home. don't know if you're from Kentucky give me a shout out wonderful thank you so much. So that also gives me the opportunity to show you based on what we're seeing here what we can do for you at the Texel portal now obviously this portal is made for what we say in Texas is emergent bilingual now because this is a national audience and the term on based on federal law is English learner from here on out you might see emergent bilingual students but we're going to use the term English learner okay we're here in Texas we always have to make up our own words and vocabulary but that is okay so as we come in I just want to explain a little bit about the site and hopefully show you at least a few things that you can take back to your service center your campus or even your Statewide audience the poor girl has been around for about five years now I used it when I was on a campus as an ESO coordinator and really it's pretty close to my to my heart I've been an ESL teacher I actually wanted to become an ESL teacher because my mom and I would volunteer at the backside of Churchill Downs which is where they do the Kentucky Derby and they would have migrant workers come and take care of the horses and take care of really Churchill Downs itself and I had so much fun with those guys every single one of them asked me if I was going to be a basketball player that was the funny thing is they always joke I was going to be a basketball player because I am kind of tall and and I have so much fun teaching them English that was when I was in high school that when I graduated college I went to Mexico I taught English there I followed my husband to Columbia to have a little bit of English there and then I came back here to Texas to become an official esol teacher I'm so as we move through the portal today we will be showing resources the back for English learners but you know we all know that there's quite a bit of overlap and between migrant students or migratory students and families and English learners how to become in here normally I would recommend on deciding okay am I finding stuff for me or am I finding stuff for parents when you come to that Educators side we're really going to have a few different things to see now I don't necessarily think it's important for us to go to this accountability and compliance that's really Texas lost so we're going to skip that part but for those of you located in Texas please know that any and all the tech Tac we do have our federal guidance here as well that's located over here but what I really want to show you guys today and some of the the resources that we have specific for specifically for teachers because they're the ones who are really like down on the on the ground boots on the ground working with those students and needing to know what they can do or what they should be doing where those students so one of the first things I want to do remember we're on this educator homepage and I want to come down here to this are featured resources we're going to go to click all resources these are going to be a collection of events of PDFs of websites that are going to be the most helpful in terms of supporting those children or their families the first thing I will say for teachers we don't have our highly mobile cross reference check list yet is so close to being done so please know that I will have this on here it'll look very similar to I'm going to show you the GT1 so just so you know highly-mobile is coming over here it's really for teachers who might not have a lot of background in migratory students or in this case it's GT and it's really great because it kind of breaks it down we all know that teachers are overworked they do not have have time to read large documents or go to Apple website these are quite literally a front and back of chairs the questions you need to be asking this is what you're looking for and this is what you can do so as I say this I'm going to say if you can and I'm going to put this in the in the chat if you can I highly recommend you subscribe quite literally my tea counterpart who is not with me right now he is in the process of approving the highly mobile so that's something that you can kind of Steel take back home and share it with those teachers might not really know what to do or maybe in the in the process of trying to identify more students that's going to be that helpful resource we at least in Texas we know that identification has gone down not to say that the student population has gone down so we all need to help with that the process of identification of migratory students so a couple of the other resources that I'd like to point out unfortunately we just missed the T3 engagement Series this is actually events that take place three times over the course of the year and while this is addressing title 3 requirements this is a really great series that is built for parent education so for each of these events we have live interpreters on the call so you can see this the first event was held English Spanish Vietnamese Arabic Japanese pop to Russia and Ukraine an urgent so this is one of those things that we have three times a parent can register on their own or we even asked that some of the education service centers around Texas or School District invite their parents in to watch these presentation and the parents get to actually listen to the presentation in their own language I come from a school district it was very diverse we had about 40 per-cent of resl kiddos were Spanish-speaking but the other 60% were all other kinds of languages we had about 20 languages or only 650 kids in the school so for me it was really powerful to have these parents come in and listen to something about their students education learn about how their students are learning the op communities that they have the services that they can receive in their own language so I highly recommend once again I'm going to keep plugging away the Subscribe because when do the bats come out next year how's the watch party get those parents together we've had parents on cell phones you know who are just kind of listening while at work such a really opportunity for them to to get that that knowledge in their own language so you can see well not especially for my out-of-state folks I'll give you that the first event often times is a little bit more focused Texas bilingual education services we do have other items you know the family engagement talks about like the by literacy practices and we actually did one on the txdl site and even the community engagement we had someone from the PTA Association come and then as well as here for taxes which most of the the presentation was actually a manage identifying managing and and managing stress and anxiety so it does things that really do transfer across state lines and really all parents you know could benefit from that so we're going to head back one remember we're back on this featured resources this is really going to be like if you don't want to mess with the big site cuz I will say that our site has grown and ground and grown this is going to be your favorite little like okay just tell me what I need to know and one other resource that I'd really like to point out here is the Texas reality check this is a great websites for my out-of-staters that might be a little bit to friends just in terms of cost of living but I want we need out cuz it I think it's still very relevant for all people and that is as the students are getting older as they're approaching you know what the college age are we going to hopefully they can get a camp scholarship through the migratory program but if not they they need to be thinking financially how they can afford it so this is a great resource that was presented at that E3 series and not only does it have a walkthrough lifestyle calculator but also occupations So based on the occupation that you are choosing how much money can you make how much time does it take to get there so we'll do it real quick and a show showing everybody through it is I am actually in San Antonio Texas and you know if kiddos are doing this when they're like a senior in high school you can take you know what I'm going to live at home let's be smart about it so we're going to live at home in San Antonio so probably need a cell phone if they're living at they don't need these other things but maybe they're contributing to the household expenses were going to put electricity food you're going to contribute to the food as well now how are they getting to school or really in San Antonio depend upon where you are you might be able to bike around but most of us are going to probably be using a car so we're into a used auto notice that over here we're starting to see what our total expenses that is what kind of clothing do they need I'm going to be pretty Basics personally I do not like going shopping please just let me know the same things that were 20 years ago and then as far as kids go they're probably going to stay on their parents insurance if they have it if not they might have to get health insurance through their work going to skip Vision Care but you know what that's get some dental care and you can see the monthly expenses over here are adding up we're going to say we need the basics and we want a gym membership not going to go into everything else and then I think we got you can see that 9 I'm going to run through here so this is just a really it's a reality check that's the whole purpose of this it's the kind of show kids before they're getting out of high school before they're taking on lots of debt to say like you we want to think about what job are you getting home are you going to earn that was unexpected of course it always says that during a presentation so I highly recommend this resource so when we come back to the txdl portal I pointed out we're going to get one more of these cross reference checklist specific to highly-mobile students I really recommend it T3 series for parent education one thing I didn't action on there is we do have recorded So for each of the events we record it and the languages that we offer so if you need to offer it the first event in Spanish you can share this parents and still use it at your own time and you don't necessarily have to go based off of we can can I hear with what she was saying and you just you here The Interpreter and not the pre-approved but it's still pretty exciting and bring them back in here to the resources there are some other wonderful wonderful resources things that are applicable Across the Nation whether that is a special education gifted and talented and Andy not big difference between migratory students and immigrant students but sometimes there are some overlaps so we do have some resources for immigrant students as well an early childhood Texas this is going to be the main spot if you just kind of want to get in and get out to find what you need that I would recommend is for teachers who have this influx of migratory students based on the percentages very likely they are Spanish speaking I'm or at least come from a family of Spanish-speaking individuals we do have various free certification of prep courses both for ESL teachers and bilingual bilingual programs and once again I know for my out-of-state folks it might not be as relevant but if you do have some sort of esol certification process or even a bilingual certification process in your home state you I know when I I became eslm bilingual certified I paid my own money to buy the book at the at the bookstore and to take practice test and all of those things and the Texas Education Agency actually created these courses for the general public to use for free so the great thing about this is that or skews me the eso one in probably two months were switching platforms to TA learn which anyone even without a Texas Education member ID number you can still take horses on ta learn.com the bilingual courses are already here so we have the 164 which is all about bilingual education and when we come in here teachers can take this once again you do not need a Texas ID number to create an account on tea learn great way to get that theory of knowledge there is also to get the almost like the Spanish test today like yes I am proficient in Spanish we have that's called the 190 in Texas and we have the same thing on this side where we have different cohorts where you're actually led by a teacher through each of the four sections of the test we don't necessarily say which ones Reading Writing speaking and listening I think it kind of goes in that order so it's a great opportunity for teachers who are trying to you know grow their knowledge to to meet the needs of those kiddos I'm going to take a quick break cuz I just spoke for like 15 minutes straight does anyone have any questions at this time do I need to HotBox to anything give me a shout outs in the in the chat or something they were asking about the hand out if you want to give them now you send that link right here I will say that the bilingual Support Division at tea is working very hard at at producing a lot of tools and resources for teachers these two are my favorite cuz I know teachers I know that they can't take these hour-long courses that they don't have the time so when I can say like I remember being a teacher going like okay is this language or should I you know should I try and like start talking to the special education department getting a kid tested for dyslexia cuz you know they're reading difficulties it was there and I know a kid and I didn't figure it out until like 5 years later that I should he should have been in the dyslexia program or he should have at least been tested for dyslexia and I still think about him to this day he did eventually overcome his disability and by the 8th grade he was doing much better but I see I still keep him with me because I don't feel like I did my job by him and that's why when I look at these I love them because they're simple they're straight and I could have taken this gone to my special education coordinator and said he's meeting all of these this is kind of my documentation to give to you to say I think we need to move forward on testing for some sort of reading dyslexia highly highly recommend those top two I'm very excited about the next one I'll follow up with my teammates to be like hey where we are where are we on the cell and okay as we come back through remember this is always going to come back to this educator page just so you kind of know where to start off we went into the profession development that's where we saw the certification classes as we come down it is going to be a little bit more specific to Texas and terms or to title 3 in a week up alpax that's for for my out-of-state people that's the meeting that we have for English Learners and the programs that they are in and we do I mentioned the resources for immigrant students we do have a course that is also available on ta learn this course comes up with it touches the the environment that immigrant students are coming in to and how to ensure that schools or leas have that welcoming environment that is culturally and linguistically supportive of students so while yes immigrant students in migratory students are very distinct categories when they do overlap this might be a useful course for you to to take a look at and I'm these are just the complete list of courses that we have I'm so I am going to stop back over where I'm at educator page again and go into program implementation there's not as much that I want to talk about on this page simply because it's it's starting to get into the weeds of specific DSL or bilingual program implementation we do have some pretty nice videos that I think even if you're out of the state when students are moving around alot and the services that are offered to students change times I have seen parents don't always know the program that their student is in I was at a charter school we did not offer a bilingual program only had an ESL program and I would let Terrence know hey you know we've got the Excel program I see that you denied services at your last school you know would you like to join you know allow your students to join the ESL program and they will be like no I don't want him speaking Spanish okay well first of all let you know we really support you know maintaining and and investing in the primary which are in the native language of the family but still kind of all ESO actually doesn't we don't use the native language we use English to teach and it was kind of having to explain the different types of programs to parents to don't understand like no no no this is English only you know their classmates also speak Bengali or Turkish or Arabic I'm so these are some great videos that we have they are in English Spanish and Vietnamese over the various programs that students might have when they are being serviced by a school so if you know that a student is coming from taxes we do have a fair bit of language programs here so the parents might be used to a dual immersion where they're learning you know it's bilingual by literacy will maybe they're coming into a an ESL only school so it might be useful to have them watch this video there about 5 to 7 minutes long so you know when they ate it's a great way that when they come into to your school or to your district office just to kind of show them this is what we have available I think yes on this page that's about it but we're going to do now is we are going to focus a little bit more on the parents and families page if parents and families were to come into this page before we went into the educator side now we're going to come into the parents and family side and our parents and family side I'll be honest has grown so much in the last year too so hopefully once again you'll find a few resources that you can latch onto and say hey this is good makes my life easier so on the some families page we've got a few different things are three main bucket are going to be the supporting my child so that is if you think about like when a parent needs to help their kid . so is everything they need to know about schools and the school system Family Support is all about what Unity supports can we use inside you know our family so just taking the community in and then finally the student resources that is very much focused on I'm in high school and I'm moving to college so if you do supporting my child that is going to be Pre-K 12 and it's very much a parent learning for their kid wear a student resources especially as soon as you're getting older this theoretically free for students as well to say what do I need to know about moving past High School into college or a career and will go into those in just a second we do have newsletters we all be honest we don't send out we do not if you do subscribe just know we don't spend a ton of emails especially if you are looking for parent resources we do not spam you our newsletter so are really great resource I know that I think it was the fall the back-to-school newsletters I have lived in Texas now for 10 years I am a I'm an educator I don't know what's going on I literally had never heard of the Texas tuition Promise Fund I did not know that was a thing that you know parents can pay ahead of time for college and get credit based on the amount of the amount that college is cost today not in 10 years or 15 years when their kids are gone 22 college so it's little things like that we try to make sure that the newsletters are timely and the goal is that you don't have to build it go is that you take it you steal one please play drive this is not this is not English 101 plagiarize as much as your heart desires because really we just want to make sure that you guys can just Grab & Go all of the newsletters are in a s'more which means that you can translate it to different languages using Google that being said we do pay for a spa translation by a human so that the Spanish because that is the principal language of Texas about 90% of students 90% of English Learners students he finished the Finish is done by humans so we know that it's like quality translation and not just Google no hate on Google I love them very much for some of those languages that we did not have the resources for definitely if I could get a human translation I will choose that a scary story about that guy momentary heart attack below that the process for serving English Learners this is a great video just to kind of get those parents familiar with the process but what we're going to do is we're going to come up here to the supporting my child's page so we really kind of broke it up into a few different options we've got general information so that's going to be like hey when you come to Texas or you know maybe I'm leaving Texas this is what you need to know we have an enrollment checklist this is what you'll need to do when your enrolling your child in a school in Texas it's we trying to make it a clean and simple that way parents can use this you know on their phones have it translated part of the reason why we are pushing for the web portal to grow is because PDFs are not translatable whereas if it's on a page I can change it to any language I want and that way it can hopefully help that many more parents so I highly recommend this one we are also creating transferring like what to do when we're transferring districts I'm so we will be Gray this little section of the portal store and go back so we have our enrollment checklist and then we also have something that's pretty nice I know as Educators many times were like oh the coordinator the the admin the director did it to do that and we know who they are but for parents and families who might be switched schools or School type private to public or public to Charter things change so we developed this page just kind of help parents under and who is who so we have academic instructors interventionist this is what they do and then what we really liked is these are some of the conversation starters and make it a little bit bigger for you guys because we found that especially for English learner families they want to get involved they don't necessarily know how they don't necessarily know the questions to ask for comfortable asking them so trying to come up with those conversation starters is really helpful so I highly recommend you kind of come through here the school nurse librarian the office you know keep those front office people happy so we have this for students as well and then as we come down we do have different resources that parents can do with their children at home I want to give a little bit of a shout out and I don't know if he is still in here but here the I'll go into that in just a minute there is another train tomorrow that is going to go over educational resources I'm actually going to come in here to the Student Activities The K-12 educational resources Jeremy if you're on here feel free to drop off real quick turn on your mind real quick but we have these resources this is like an amazing an amazing product Oh no an amazing product that we have four migratory students a was developed by the migrant program at tea and it really is great because they're built to say hey if I have a student who's leaving for a few weeks or a month what can I do to help them so they're setup and lessons that they can take with them like paper pack they can take with them so they're still meeting certain teks for Spanish or unfair teks for Texans or standard they're still able to get in and do that I'm going to cheat and go in the back one of the great things about that site is that it recently moved but forms so it is very very cell phone friendly once again great for students and parents who likely aren't using some sort of a laptop and they can still hop in and here we go make this over here login these resources are going to I apologize guys they do have them for both reading and math through K2 and then this 4 3 2 5 6 2 8 and 9 to 12 they they only have reading and writing that being said each year they are adding lessons for math for the different sections I'm going to come into the dashboard okay so yeah so when you come into the resources you can see the different lessons the great news about this is based on what the kiddos or Miss you can print out the specific many lessons for them to take with them I know what we didn't have a large migratory popular student population at my school many of my immigrant students would have to go back home or a month at a time typically around the holidays so it would have been great for me to know about these to say like you know what while you're gone we are working on dramas hey you know what print out the these couple lessons and give them to you that way you have that they're noticed that we do have tip sheets and videos and then just so you know everything everything everything that we haven't is also available in Spanish now this is twofold great if the students are in a dual immersion program and they are learning Spanish becoming by literate and they have the option of the same lessons in Spanish however even if they're in an English only program that allows parents to have the Spanish version while the kiddos can use the English version I know a lot of my students their parents are like I want to help him but I don't I don't know you know I do my best and they're using you know Google translate and they're working so hard to be supportive of their kiddos I'm so a little bit of support for them to turn around and support their kid goes a long way so I'm not going to go in detail about this resource but I do want to just kind of give it a shout-out Jeremy Post in one of my colleagues will be presenting on this tomorrow and he'll go a little bit more in-depth great great resource we are going to come back here so besides the K-12 educational resources we do have all of these other resources mind you they are all the free resources we didn't notice unfortunately a trend after everybody was coming back from covid that a lot of resources that used to be free are no longer free now they have a pay wall so we do try to go through to make sure that what we have here is available for everyone questions I'm talking a lot if I don't work yes thank you Miss Sandra so missindress for both the txdl portal and then also the educational resources for K-12 quite literally you don't have to be in Texas you don't have to be an educator and me one can have access and I apologize guys like we I think it was last week we switched which is why my username and password is not up to date but all you have to do is create an account and you know what let me do this cuz I don't think I create an account on a new one you would just say I am educator do I live in Texas yes or no in this case I do and we can share intento that's fine with me interesting and you're staying so maybe I did created but you would just create your password there and you can have access to it I highly highly recommend sharing that with teachers so while it can be used to send with kids and their families let the teachers know because they're going to be the ones to say hope they're out for a week I have the students who missed they're great resources to use they are it is like a spiral going up you know 3rd 4th 5th grade you can take them up a level If there really a Banshee come down a level if you're struggling I'm so great resource on me actually Ed Sheeran let me actually send you guys this link and once again please go to the K-12 educational resources training tomorrow and he'll really walk you through in the different ways to use it there's a kind of follow up with Miss Sandra there are very few cats are on our websites that are restrictive they might not all be useful to people outside of Texas but everything with maybe one or two exceptions should be available for any and all educators answer that kind of wraps at the supporting my child we do have other information under programming program information this is a little bit more geared towards Texas in terms of like the process and the classification so if you're in Texas please take a look at this one if not I'm going to try to move past that and now we're going to go into student resources so if you remember student resources is really focused on taking students and what are they going to do after after high school we do have it kind of separated for like almost just hit me out of high school I think I want to go to college and then realistic College let's just go to work go to the so we're going to go through those buckets a little bit for my in Texas people we do have a the total credits needed to graduate once there's a beautiful graduation toolkit that's a PDF it's not translatable I do believe that there is a Spanish version but if any parents speak anything other than Spanish maybe Vietnamese they have some resources and it's a PDF then they don't know what's going on so I highly recommend if you have students who do speak another language you can use these resources we got Elsie and the test prep's CTE classes so CPE meaning in Career and Technical education this is something for my in Staters there is the way for students to find out where some CTE courses are available and it's it's kind of a pretty cool math Papa have to say cuz you can kind of shoes okay what am I in Twisted in agriculture and a zoom in my Texas geography still not the strongest so I know San Antonio is like tell me somewhere around here and we can kind of see okay Smithson Valley High School they do have an agriculture food and natural resource program and you can see all the different G around here you can you can filter it based on different items such a really just a cool feature parents and families I lost my way student resources and then finally language development this honestly this list of resources kind of a copy from the other side but when this page was built it really was built in mind of this might be for teenagers to look at versus the other Pages just for the parents when we get into the post-secondary Readiness this is when a little bit more Nationwide we do have a calendar of what you should be doing to prepare for Life After College so what I'm seeing is that many times our kiddos come and maybe end of junior year early senior year they're like okay let's do this let's get ready and it's kind of a little bit late in the so it's a calendar of things that students and parents alike should look at to say what should I be doing now I'm so in 9th and 10th grade the process starts that's meeting with your school counselor what class those are available whether it's dual-credit whether it is AP classes things like that making sure that kids are involved in sports and or clubs anything and I'm start to bills that resume and really just round out their characters and then you'll see that like we start talking about taking the piece at a time or just learning about different College programs all of those are the kind of like the building blocks of what's going to hit them in their Junior and Senior year so we do highly recommend that they begin taking college entrance exams there junior year I know personally I would recommend it a little bit earlier just so they have an opportunity here to luckily you know we we hear that universities are not requiring this as much but definitely to give kiddos time if they want to try to get a scholarship based on their testing scores the earlier the better and then senior year we've got like college visits in fasta pasta do for in-state we got that taspa which we're going to come right over here so we know that for FAFSA that is for a student who qualify meaning that they are a permanent resident or citizen of the United States they can file for FAFSA in Texas we do have cash we have a few different stuff to your parents once again this isn't necessarily mind-blowing information but it it's trying to put this information in a you so that if you have parents who needed in a different language they can translate it and then finally we have different things as far as trade school goes just to kind of get them familiar with these are the type of careers that you can go in for trade school what your qualifications are necessary documents we do a little bit of resume assistance like what should go on your resume I'm the tips tips and tricks and then the different format we link out to that and then finally we do have scholarships these are updated fairly often but many of them focus on minority in the English learner population so even like when we're coming into great minds in stem we're coming in here you can see scholarships for DACA recipients and undocumented students we really do try to focus on meeting the needs of where students are and so I highly recommend you you check those out and then finally we have our internships Workforce in military we have that same resume build but a little bit more focused on going into a career versus a school job search engines one of the things that I appreciate I was highly active njrotc and high school most of my friends in high school all join the military unfortunately we graduated early 2000 so there was a lot of action and a lot of recruitment happening happening so one of the things that I appreciated on this site is a how to join the military but it's also trying to empower students on let's do you know make sure you know it's a it's a two-way interview make sure you're a good fit for them but also make sure that branch of the military is a good fit for you so you kind of come in here you can go through the different questions that you should be asking your recruiter and and some of the whys behind it and then we do have the different options for how to join the military weather and an ROTC program the reserves or the Texas Military we have all that right here okay I'm going to take a quick break once again I've been talking a lot I normally have people interrupting me a little bit anybody in the chat now we don't have any okay come on tell time I have a question is there anything that you guys want to go back and take a look at before we kind of go into this last section checking the chat thank you I was like I'll talk don't get me wrong like I'll keep going. But I also like sometimes I hear how much sometimes I know I'm hearing my voice too much and it's a little creepy for me so we did this supporting my child and the student resources part of the reason I left these families is there's one tool on here that I would highly recommend for my out-of-staters I need to I need to check to see what you might have available in state that you don't know about but like I said the family supports is very focused on those Community Resources and then bringing them into the family so we do and I'll do this one last we have adult education and this top part you know whether its online education the Goodwill Community Foundation all of the different links to typically free education for parents and families we also have the career Readiness section we do connect to a lot of Texas resources but please know that like a lot of them are also Nationwide and finding career options in training and job search and things like that college preparation so student aid scholarship at the scholarships we do have also linked out to the health support services housing and safety and then finally legal services so we try to touch all those different items that parents and families my need to get through you know to get through life I think when this was created it was a little bit after Hurricane Harvey and you're like hey housing and safety. This is this is a huge deal I do want to come up here and to take a look at what we call the T call Matt but really it's adult education and literacy providers it is done by state so while I'm sorry for my out-of-staters I don't have one for your state but if you have a student that is coming to Texas let the parents know I know from a title 3 perspective title 3 of olive educating the parents to be better supports for their kids you know the better the the job and education of the parents hopefully you know we see that turnaround is induced the kid app so for texting you can choose any County Ada County any County let's do Callahan and it will take you to a sight it is operated by Texas a and this County and the closest adult education programs are enabling ISD Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas and this just goes to and once again I'm not a native Texan so I don't always know which are the big counties but it's a great way to kind of peek at what is closest most of the play have free or you know highly reduced courses you can also click in the map so for example we like him here on Trinity so for Trinity we got Angelina College and Nacogdoches Workforce Solutions of Texas and it's just kind of a great way to find out what's closest I know some of the bigger School District Parent Access offer ESO cyst on the campus I'm booked for a lot of smaller counties or districts it's just not feasible they just don't have the Manpower or the funding to do that so this is a great way to find something close by to say like sorry we don't have it at school but I can show you someone who does so when you come in here I do want to point out they they do say which Services they provide so this one is like ES file and then high school equivalency test prep so the g e d a g o g e d and so each one will have something a little bit different so for this one they do have training job search assistance employment skills total enrollment in Adult Ed in job training so you do kind of have to look at what each what each organization offers then I think the final thing that I want to show you I'm going to come back to the educator side so we kind of finished on the parents and family we did the supporting my child can I help my kiddo who can help me under family supports and then hey my kiddos leaving High School what's next I am going to come back to the educator section and this I promise for my out-of-staters this also good for you we are going to come all the way down to the bottom of the page we do have that same video for you know the process of identification and services for for English learners one of the things that I love that we just hosted the couple might have been a couple months ago at this point heatmax by language I once again I was going to school that was very diverse I had a few immigrant students from Afghanistan and they spoke pashtu now did my co-teacher know Arabic yet she did can Arabic and past two are they mutually can they understand no they know they cannot Google translate did not have the sound option my students did not read their native language it was an adventure it was so much fun but that being said it would have been nice to know of another school like hey do you have any resources have you built this have you built that cuz a lot of the times it's really you had to make your own stuff so the great news about this tool is you can come in here and say you know what let's actually do you want to cuz I like that one we're going to filter by Posh to these are the schools that have pashtu associated with them we can you know it filter by region or by District but honestly I'm just going to come in here bands coming to San Antonio and when we come in I can see that Northside ISD has 702 students that speak Pashto and Northeast ISD has about 128 and San Antonio has 83 the reason why I think this is great for even outside of Texas is that if you have those migratory students that maybe they don't speak Spanish maybe they speak in indigenous language or something like that you can find a school district that has already survived those Dunes in their language I am sure some teacher some program has already developed resources that they might be willing to share with you and we do have all of the languages available then like the Texas school system. The ones that we have identified I guess so I know that sometimes trying to find one that I know anybody shout out a language of a Mexican indigenous language that starts with an N I cannot remember the name of it for the life of me though okay will do Karen if I said that wrong I'm sorry we do have Karen I know we have Karen hold on is there a second name for Karen languages sometimes like another name for Karen is Seagal that was the one. thinking of Miss Gonzalez I wasn't wrong then okay if so no no no it's not working so apparently we do not have all the languages that I want us to have I apologize for that but we do have a fair amount I'm really I'm really sad about the Mexican indigenous languages cuz I know I've seen some so if you know they're always listed as other and in our state database if they're not listed then they just choose other and do write it on the home language survey but just know that this is here I'm going to send so that's the heat Maps the other one is more interesting. It's it's basically what is the dominant language it's a you know American languages Asian languages trying to think of its Spanish Vietnamese additional Asian African language is Arabic and Middle Eastern European in America or two or more so when we get rid of Spanish obviously Texas very Spanish when we get rid of Spanish we get to know the different parts of Texas a little bit better and what kind of language is that they that they are or not what kind of language is are present in that region so we do have those in terms of in-state we have some fact sheets that are just really nice to share Educators about the EB demographics Oriel demographics buy for my out-of-staters that's so much for you but just know for Texans this is a really great way if you have teachers who need to get certified these are going to be factually three is all about certification so here's the stats you know knowing that there's two different exams which actually I think it's change the different module or models and then the same thing for ES out it's just one test but the different models for ESO that we go poop I did pretty well right I'm like an hour and 6 minutes I feel like that is a style what I want to show you guys on my end let's definitely applicable across across state lines and across that migratory e l migratory students e l line if anyone has any other questions or maybe your love hey do you guys have anything like you know blank if we don't have it will make it that's kind of the whole point of the my team here at Region 20 I we are we are project development team and we really using title 3 funds from the state we build resources that meet the needs of students parents and families and Educators so if you have something that you need to let us know better yet I'm going to put in here if you think that there's something that is missing emergent bilingual support.
