Out-of-State MEP
Welcome! Over 9,000 migratory students travel out of the state of Texas each year as their families engage in qualifying migratory agriculture or fishing work. The Texas Migrant Interstate Program (TMIP) partners with receiving states of our shared migratory students to support interstate coordination.
Working with TMIP Staff is simple!
Your state does not have to have a signed Interstate Migratory Student Cooperative Agreement (IMSCA) for interstate coordination. An IMSCA is needed only for States interested in proctoring Texas STAAR/EOC exams in their State.
TMIP Staff are available to help answer enrollment questions, assist with credit coordination, and connect you to appropriate contacts. Much of this work is facilitated through MSIX where TMIP staff oversee the State of Texas’ Move Notices and Data Requests; however, the staff are available via phone or through email to provide technical assistance. One of the most important collaborations is providing out of state testing opportunities for Texas migratory students as they travel. The resources below can assist receiving states with general information about The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness/End of Course (STAAR/EOC) Exams. If you are interested in becoming a partner state, please complete the TMIP Contact Form.
TMIP Staff can also provide support to our shared migratory families through the Family Hotline and the Parent Resources page.
