The iSOSY Consortium has produced more than 125 pieces of instructional materials over the course of its lifetime, with more always in development. These tools include everything from English language screening, basic academic skills, life skills, goal setting, and career planning. How do you navigate the choices and utilize the resources to maximize their assistance in helping the out-of-school and at-risk secondary students in your state succeed? iSOSY has created a user-friendly, efficient website to put all of the materials at your fingertips. Participants will learn how to find and use the appropriate resources for the various student populations. They will also learn how the iSOSY Student Portal can be integrated into the plan to provide services to students of all levels.

good morning and welcome to the Texas migrant Interstate programs migratory student intrastate interstate coordination conference the formula to success my name is Jacob or take it with ESC Region 20 and I will be facilitating the implementation of iso sees instructional material making it work for your program session before we begin I have a few announcements as a reminder this session is being recorded also at the conclusion of this session you will be directed to complete a brief survey to evaluate session please please please provide your honest feedback so that we can design future sessions finally please be sure to mute yourself and place any questions you have in the chat box thank you I'm pleased to introduce your session presenter Tracy Kaylee who will be sharing information about I Sosa's instructional materials I will now turn the time over to our session presenter thank you okay and then everybody on Tracy kalec I am the director of the isosy Consortium and I want to welcome you all to today's session and I also want to welcome you all to the I so she can sort them so this is the first year that Texas has been a member so there's a couple of things first off you will see in the chat and I was YouTube click on this so everybody has those okay we're going to be working from this Google folder so you will have access to my PowerPoint there's going to be three scenarios that we utilize we are going to have you do a little break at work and then I've been clued three other documents the goal-setting instructor manual how will you grow goal-setting student handbook and the lesson plan overview also before I get into the actual training I want a hey buddy if you have a computer go to osy migrant. Org this is our web page there's a couple of things I'm going to point out to you now and we're going to reference it later and you're actually doing some work a little later so go to as I said I was by migrant out of work and you'll see there's a couple of useful resources one catalog of materials and resources this is all hyperlinks this is the easiest way to find things but I want to point out where to go 1 we're going to be looking at a couple of different resources and then I'm going to be asking you to dig into materials so if you look and Jacob if you want to help me monitor the chats make sure I don't miss questions you're going you know how that works but if you go to practitioner you can click on instructional resources and we're going to be looking at a series under you can get him two ways but we're looking you were going to look at sky listen so you could access them here or you also could access them under English language learning so just remember that and if you get confused I will be jumping around in the breakout room to help the other thing I want to point out if you go back to practitioner and go to Pathways you see the goal setting will also be using that there's two things I want to point out right now we're going to be looking at the career awareness toolkit and then I just want to mention this kid you may want to dig around in here start using these materials as well how to run your own business is the series of modules for students to utilize and to dig into on their own and they are all in Spanish hello hello you up here like on it and it will take you to as I said various modules their interactive giving them real real-time real examples of businesses that have been run by students they're great examples of how to begin what to consider so I don't have a lot of time to dig into this today but this is something I just want to point out you because it it's a really incredible resource so with that you're going to remember how we got to those and then I want to take you back here I'm going to open up the PowerPoint as I said please remember to access your Google folder so is that I am going to get us started okay hurry up and I hope you don't mind I'm going to stop my video I already told Jacob I find it very distracting as I'm trying to prevent and having my face up their welcome to isosy Innovative strategies for out of school inside are you sure that is what it stands for and as you can see our wheel is targeted at Innovation and we have the various folks that we are encompassing throughout all of our outcomes all of our resources and you're going to stay but I like to begin with success stories so the impact of our work Jesse is a 21 year old single mother she works in the food processing industry in Kansas she dropped out of school at 16 in Mexico and came to the US at 17 with her infant son and I want you to take a look at the picture getting her diploma with her now well I say he's more than a toddler that I think he's 45 at this point but the emphasis for her success started with access to and her participation in the OSHA 10 hour General Industry of course that isosy has offered the last three years we have some Texas students participating so I'm really excited to to let you know that but I wanted to highlight Jessie because she finished the course she was the in the first cohort and she finished the course in a record time less than 2 weeks working full-time with a young single mom and this was impetus for her success she is currently doing roll dad wash Washburn Institute of Technology she is pursuing an industry credential at in automotive technician and she's the only female enrolled in the course and she wants to open her own auto mechanic business but I love what she said she said I want to advance myself I love learning and I want to be a good role model for my son and also to be able to provide well for him if you would like to go to our website and you'll see in the student portal we have a series of videos of student success stories and they range the Gammas of learning English Brad the second and you can just take a look at Susan move to Wichita Kansas from Egypt is one of nine siblings and she's helping to raise her younger siblings as well but that's not stopping her you look she already speaks three languages and she really wants to get her a certified nurse assistant certificate after getting her GED age so we're really proud of all of these students but I always like to start with success stories so I want to congratulate our Texas student savior in a service provider Maria Munoz he complete the OSHA course in December the mind you they started the course in November so he also finished it very quickly and we love that he's seeing some success and I want to thank Maria for her work with him so really fast I just want to see if you've not heard of ice I was they there at what the acronym stands for as I mentioned but the goal is to improve the delivery of map instructional services and we have placed a critical emphasis on engagement and summer instruction because our primary purpose is to increase the educational attainment of not just are schools out of school years but secondary students at risk of dropping out and then as part of the competitive priority from ome we were required to also take a look at identifying the impacts of the coven game pandemic and then providing resources to help mitigate and address identified needs so we're in the process of doing that now so you can see here in front of you all of the 18 member states Kansas has the lead state and we have two new states to the Consortium this year in that Texas and Colorado so that the larger Focus From what I like to call ICE oc12 I supposed to be too so the last generation we were instructional serve this far out of school and secondary Youth and that was the first time we really looked across the Continuum to say how do we address identify and address the needs of students who have not access School in this country or who have dropped out or really looking at how can we prevent and support those students at risk of dropping out so we we really tried to address those needs across the Continuum and you're going to see that as we move further into looking at our objectives that we really want to address both population of students so when you look at and you can read that so but I just want to make mention that we place extreme importance on instructional support and so our first objective is that 70% of migratory osy and stuck in their youth at risk of dropping out to participate and instructional support using isosy products will demonstrate growth on Criterion based assessments and you're going to see be a little later this morning those CVS in terms of pre and post assessments and then I also want to make mention to the importance we place on professional development and if I time I will show you acts and how to access some of those additional resources so our objectives for today one I want you to learn to navigate instructional choices and figure out how to utilize resources to their maximum and really look at how can we assist identify the materials and really match instructional need I also want to take a look at how we need to understand setting and learning plan development in terms of guiding our work with students they mentioned selecting the right material and addressing student needs and then hopefully if time will be able to dig into that Student Portal enhancements as well to extend learning so let's get started so why focus on goal setting well I'll tell you I absolutely love the second bullet because this is such a new experience not just for out-of-school youth but really across the board in terms of our migratory you think able to give them to help them give voice to aspirations because it's an entirely new experience years ago when we started focusing on goal setting never forget that one student said to me that you're asking me to dream with my eyes open yes we are so many we as we know so take you later osy I have never been asked about their values their desire our dreams for the future and the idea that their dreams may be approachable or attainable help them Focus their energy on learning and you know oftentimes and a don't let me get on my Ram but we hear over and over motivation issue that the engagement is she is and how do we address them I think the first thing is doing this work is being able to take a look at not only what we are doing for our students but the process of engage them instead of goals whether their academic goals or their life goals the ideas that it becomes transportable and when you start looking at the benefits to our supply and other migratory students have setting goals you can see this here osy was able to go unprotected pathway or plan to develop an understanding of resources to help them up along the way and recognize barriers that may hinder their progress this successively powerful transportable skills right and then develop ways to manage them and you're going to see us we and I wish I had more time because to really dig into all of the materials and train you on them it would take a little bit longer than an hour and 15 minutes but I'm hoping that you will take the materials and really dig into them on your own and then ask ask questions so the other thing that is important to note is not only are the skills portable but when they have a strong sense of themselves and their goals students won't lose their motivation to continue as I noted it's a framework for life not just the time there with and I think that often times as service providers as tutors as people working with this very important population it's sometimes easy to ignore or postponed the process of process goal setting it's important to remember that this set of activities can really set the stage for future learning so I wanted not to belabor the whole benefits but I think there's also benefit to our entire program so you could kind of take a look at that I think we're not just doing this for students but we're and we're not just doing it because it could be a requirement some states require this but it also helps us work with our students work with our service providers and demonstrate that stood centered outcomes are important to our program and the success of our program so again I'm not monitoring the chat so can Jacob I don't know if Maria is on I just want to make sure if there are questions I am addressing them so please let me know we know this is well and I don't I don't let it again want to the labor any points but we know that our students and even though this says I was why I mean we were also want to include are those secondary students we know there's an urgency to identify and recruit students explore and clarify their academic goals design ways to in a Meeting those goals and then to help provide them the tools to connect to connect them to the opportunities whether they're moving across districts across States Etc so when you really start looking at the chat changes that we know our students face I think it's also important to look at the assets that our students have been helped mitigate those challenges also I just want to mention that we did a a significant amount of research and producing these materials and the underlying Concepts that support everything in our instruction it our goal setting manual and student manual are based on Maslow's hierarchy need growth mindset and then the whole concept and research around persistence I know it's our job to meet people where they are and a structure goal-setting and learning plan development around that so once you done School just be able to come to class right that is a solid goal come to class and be prepared to learn while another might be you know I'm I'm setting to take my high school equivalency how do we support them so all of these activities and the documents that go wrong with them are designed to accommodate the whole range of students that we encounter I included just a little bit about growth mindset and then neuroplasticity because I think it's really a don't you understand if we can change our beliefs we can influence our Behavior in our mind can change by discovering something we didn't know something that goes against our current beliefs and then change is possible if we can and the brains can change according to how we use them so really thinking about the concepts of neuroplasticity and that our brains are not static we can build those Pathways you know years ago I have a 14 year old daughter and when she was before she started she started the process of trying to play the violin one of her friends plated and so she really wanted to do it and we had instructor come to our home it was a wonderful experience but part of that experience was one parent need to also needed to also learn the violin alongside the child and so that would parent with me and you want to talk about my brain I can feel those Pathways developing as I progressed now I did not play well ever but I felt that the opt opportunity to do something that was so proud of my normal everyday range of experiences was the key to understanding for me the concept of neuroplasticity and I have a great I did not included in this but I have a really good video if you're interested I'll be happy to send it to you just because of the time Factor so the other piece of course is the research around persistence you know it's if we have the time I would be asking you these questions and you may just wanted. I'm in the chat can you give an example of persistence in your own life can you give an example when you had to help someone else persist he wouldn't mind why don't you just jot down some of your thoughts in the chat I would love to hear them so give us an example of persistence in your life and then if you had a few have won an example when you had to help someone else perception he wouldn't mind answering that in the chat and Jacob they're able to do that yes I can't tell typing or ignoring me do anyone want to give us an example I would love to see you then thank you it's telling you to myself all right oh thank you so much for participating so let's just say oh my gosh Emily congratulations a 300-day streak or French on Duolingo oh that's incredible wonderful teaching my daughter to ride a bike yes that is an exercise in persistence for both of you absolutely Amana while doing ESL classes as a volunteer I had to show up even on the special evenings yes for system showing up it is a big question thank you I love it as an element with weight I lost it as an elementary math specialist I work with struggling students 5th graders who fail the STAAR test and had to take it again and half the battle was them to believe that they could absolutely starting and staying at staying in college despite that at the time I didn't speak English Lourdes thank you I was a classroom teacher for seven years so I feel like I was helping kiddos for sister day whether it was getting them to come to school getting their assignments done and working in in a group that's incredible yes I'm feeling I'm feeling this right now in particular in our school district science fair is a huge deal and you all students must participate I believe up until their senior year and they start two or three months ahead of time and the science fair was last week and it's exhausting and I wasn't even doing the work so I get it persistence wonderful so there was a huge research study done by the center the national center for the study of adult learning and literacy and they talked about what was needed and how to move forward and they said the process that they really looked at was addressing students anxiety about learning number one so putting them at ease increase student self-efficacy increasing the relevance of what's being taught to the students and increase the students interest level in participation so what we found is students based on research and to support that whole concept assistance we found that students need to establish a goal or projected pathway number one have a sense of self-efficacy developing an understanding of the positive and negative forces that helped or hindered their projects or progress excuse me and Steve progress even if it's tiny incremental steps so when you start looking at how this impacts goal-setting A Student Success once you to consider everything I've talked about this phone but also challenging students help that helps them learn and Achieve overtime and I love this quote I love these two quotes engagement as a precondition for learning The Learning Happens until students becoming gay with materials and then holding students to high expectation done properly right is a way to convey that they have potential I was in a meeting couple of months ago and your go I'll see when you get into our stat lessons and they handsome it's in our student portal and what was done in the student portal some of those instructional enhancements are difficult and the group that it was shared with initially to get feedback was like wow this is really hard and there was almost a moment where some of them were thinking some of the people present were thinking it was too hard for students and the developer of the material stood up and said nothing wrong with holding are giving our students opportunities to step up and how and for us to have high expectations we can support them along the paths that we have to do that and it was a game changer the whole town of the room changed and was really powerful and I'm going to show you later specifically what what it was referenced referencing so what do students need to do or need to know and I love this and I Stay it's a lot because it makes such it makes it really synthesized it down to some simple ideas write write it down break it down. Accountable reward yourself share your bowls with people who will help and encourage you and then develop these good habits right now it sounds really simple like this but I think it's digestible for students understand in these trunks so as I shared with you in the Google folder you have the instructors guide how will you grow setting goals with osy now keep in mind this was developed for out-of-school youth but there's nothing in this guy that is not pertinent to any migratory student it includes an introduction to help students understand goal-setting but this is what you would use with students talks about in the intro why goal setting the importance of the big picture clarifying the difference between a vision and go and then what it takes to create that Vision on goal and then as you'll see across the screen here these are the six kind of chunks in the manual and there are six main activities they are designed to be sick I'm saying let's junket and let's work on some reading and math lessons and my include goal setting is part of the process and you will see we have a grooved for one on one group or virtual each of these sections has an ice breaker and introduction and is all activity Drive-In so it's a very little of an instructor talking and more of let's do this together and then there's all the student handouts run that student workbook I mentioned so when you look at this so we first discover our vision right together then you teach students how to document it and then putting it all together again you can pick shoes for example I'm going to ask you again in the chat we're not going to have time to do all three of these questions but I love this because we ask the students we asked them to dream big right and ask these questions and and this is about discovering their vision and the documenting their Vision students can we ask them to to talk allow their ideas to write them down and then we ask them to actually whether that's mapping it out you know across sickly looking at designing a word cloud doing a vision board however they want to document it so we ask them I believe you're capable of doing in your life one of the greatest things you can accomplish given the right circumstances resources and motivation and then we asked him where do you see yourself in the future and we don't say 40 50 or 60 but when I do this with the I'll buy change the ages and I don't know how old you are so if you're 30 you know if you're 20 you know where do you see yourself in the next 10 years essentially so let's answer one of these questions so in the chat let's look at the second question and let's just take one thing it says what are the greatest things but let's just pick one thing what is the greatest thing you could have comp given the right circumstances resources and motivation take a moment and I know I keep asking big questions but I think this is very powerful so take a moment and answer inside the chat what is the greatest thing you think you could accomplish now you're doing. I've also been pulled up the student go back and you can see documenting your vision so we ask them the questions and then we give them some examples a word cloud a collage a poem lyrics a vision board however they want to do it and you could just see there's places for them to write in response to draw now what their dream is and there's some examples of these are actual student examples retired I love creating a small little book this life book it's a little 8-page book They're taught how to make the book out of one piece of paper and I've seen students carrying it with them I love that let's say oh I love that Vanessa the greatest thing I think I can accomplish this being the best mom I can be Amana I can encourage students to be open to learning life skills that will help them with better thank you jot down in the chat advocate for all students to receive the education they deserve thank you Sylvia yes absolutely all right now I want you to think about so we've talked about goal-setting there's a lot more to it than what I'm sharing cuz this is sort of a brief overview but I want to also talk about some of the other instructional materials that I'm hoping you will start utilizing and you're going to see how all this ties together and comes together by the end when I place you into breakout rooms so we're going to be talking about that short targeted timely lesson Summerall we talking about the career awareness toolcat let's start there a way to have one more comment El awesome besides making sure my own kids are happy and healthy finishing my degree wonderful thank you so so I want to also introduce the career Readiness tool kit and this is often used with secondary students but you really can use it with any as I said migratory student essentially it's designed to help in this is something bad and its structure tutor service provider and a student do together where they're exploring things that are crucial to understand when they're thinking about their future and as you're going to see it I've already taking you to where you can find it but it's divided into these themes so self-awareness goal-setting again be the tire career awareness Financial awareness education and then skills and resources and each unit theme has statements so really thinking about this as kind of a pre and post assessment that way so you'll see here and I know it's small but it says score so you ask the question I have career goals in mind already and the student has three responses right disagree somewhat agree or strongly agree and so they didn't know that and then the ideas you take the resources and you go through them together and then at the end they given a post for an hopefully it is increased right so I'm also on the website there's a very short video of Anna tractor utilizing the career awareness toolkit it with a student so if you have some time to take a look at that as I mentioned it's on that scale from 1 to 3 that there soon as to write a rag themselves and then there's the the theme and as I noted we're hoping that the student will then after conversation after reading with you will then say Oh yes I know looking at I'm looking at this thing I I highly agree that's one resource so now thinking about those students who perhaps are quite ready to dig into the more difficult reading material in the career awareness toolkit but they themselves need support the shorts Target in in timely lessons or as I always refer to them as stat lessons their practical and relevant to the needs and interests of our students they were all designs because date specifically requested these topics their interactive and they're adaptable to any setting whether that's inside outside you no longer or shorter you can make adjustments and The View if this if you can work through these and then go to our student portal for enhancements so the standard format and all of them there's a detailed lesson plan we focus on comprehension and very targeted vocabulary instruction their interactive activities but that doesn't mean you can't rent and use the worksheets that are provided if students don't have access to to the Internet so don't we have new lessons available here's our most recent list of lessons and we have some in progress so we're going to have lesson on shopping at a gas station we're going to have the second part of the dairy which is dairy equipment because so many of our states have workers who who are on dairy farms and then this one on natural. Masters was a very specific request after so many of our students were impacted by the poor air quality due to the wildfires last summer and so we're looking at and let me see if I can remember all of them because they're there multiple lessons under this natural disaster heading so tornadoes hurricanes air quality wildfires oh I think that's it yes so excited about those and those will be out before summer use so very timely and then I also need to make mention this is another lesson on heat stress so really thinking about summarize when your state last summer it was hot and I thought I live in Kansas City and I thought it was hot in Kansas City well know it was really hot last summer so looking at heat stress looking at you know working with air quality I think that's really important for our students to keep themselves safe so we have improved them via these lesson enhancements so we've done some revisions to the pronunciation guides and we've also included suggestions strategies because these are at a low level about 5th the 6th grade readability level so we wanted also give suggestions or how to use these because the contents really good with more advanced English learners so kind of medicine most of these that really important thing is the design that their design responsive them all and all devices so I want to show you I'm going to stop sharing this right now and I'm going to go to the website because I also want to point out where everything is as you get into your groups which we're going to do in a few minutes and let me go back to the website okay we still have and we have some people coming in all right so we go here you're going to see I mentioned where the stat lessons are but I'm going to now take you so you got an under instructional resources and remember this because you're going to have to find them again so go to at lessons right here and you can check out the other lessons at your leisure but here we go oh and also any one of these pop-ups if you're not getting updates and email and professional information from us and we do a lot with your email in there and you'll be on our list so here we go heat stress since I mentioned that here's the lesson plan let me just pull that up it walks you through everything what the objectives are objectives are the I can statements the materials and then linked to everything you need so we will dig into that in a minute the other thing I want to show you is how to to our portal so we have a practitioner portal you'll see it under provider portal remember I mentioned all the professional development we have I encourage you to check that out so lots of resources webinars professional learning a lot is here so everything relationship building engagement that's incredible differentiation identifying these xcetera there's a lot there and then that let's just count the student portal so we're going to access the portal we go there the really cool thing is you can access it in different languages this is not going to change language on the video on fortunately those are an English we're trying to utilize Spanish closed captioning but that's the process but any of the texts you will see if you can change the language we also highlighting holidays this year so there's interactive holiday instructional materials so you click on that and whatever you want to click on with that's where they themselves can do on their own is really fun so we are working on each of the holidays the other thing is we have enhanced moments to our lessons but we also have Google Classroom materials as well so stupid will need to have a Gmail account it's free and here's information on how they can set that up and then you can get into all of the information here which I will talk about a little more and then we're going to do our breakouts think we're doing okay on time so let me take you back to the PowerPoint and I see there are two were there questions or two comments yo back thank you so much it's hard to do it also I really appreciate your space you so as I made bench we have the student portal there really what we envisioned is a way to enhance any of the learning that's already occurred specifically as instructors have utilized our stat lessons are life skills class anyting and we encourage you to walk students through utilizing the student portal and what's really fun is we use a lot of interactive tools live Ed puzzle all kinds of really fun interactive things but we provide instructions on how to use the tools to make sure students understand that the materials are written in a lesson plan these are practitioner resources so we may that didn't just anxious in between this is what we want you to do with students and then what students can do on their own the content material is available on all platforms you know we have a pad page we have had puzzle we have Google classrooms we have as I mentioned that tutorial and we're working on additional enhancements continuously we also as I mentioned those student success stories which are incredible and if you have funny videos and you would love to have them posted send them to me I would love I would love to to do that so as I mentioned if the student doesn't have access because of internet and connectivity issues you can print them and give them to the students so I mentioned a lot of what's here but also we are currently conducting live English lessons for the entire month of February including the first weekend in March on Sunday evenings we have opened it up to any out-of-school youth who wants to attend and I think we have a student or two from Texas if you have other students were interested with love have them to also send me an email that would be great but the class started last 2 weeks ago we did not have class on Sunday because of the Superbowl but we are kicking it back off and these are basic English law Tom sessions so we also have as I noted those videos the Student Success has how to learn some basic English and we're trying to build more and more of connections with career so we have some cool careers videos that the play Kansas State Department of Education allowed us to link two and then we still have a lot of information on covid and staying healthy so excuse me are parents of students allowed to attend those as well this is the first time we did a small pilot last year I mean they're there with the student they want to sit in but that but we really were giving it towards students themselves so yes you can follow up with me afterwards and I can send you the information thank you for that question how much time we have okay good alright so I like this plus I think you need a break from my voice so I just wanted to share with you just a fun little video on why we need to try new things go to SpongeBob. digital clock Lord Jim okay just a little humor I don't know if sometimes you feel that way in terms of learning something new so opening the box so the same as is true with the student portal so everything you takes practice so let's just see how about if we go here okay I'm going to assume that you have utilized edpuzzle before but in case you haven't it shows a video and it's certain points wherever you see a. It's going to stop and you're going to have to answer a question and you have to answer correctly before you move on so really fast the first how to get gas I'll get some drinks can I get me a drink started my Cardinal number my number is 193-2305 I have books sorry so just in case sample of how that works and we have those embedded throughout and so Ed puzzle kahoot I think we're familiar with we have interactive games and then Google Slides embedded with video Lesson so we focus also on listening and speaking practice with flip let me see if that will open now what you also need to oh I have to be in my Google sorry I'm not in my Google account there so I won't I won't be able to show you that right now but you can play around with that so going from here to UPS let's dig a Little Deeper so I want you to think about what you've heard this far and I want to take you back to the Google folder okay and I wanted to have you click on the lesson plan overview so I would like to leave you with is this tool because I think it's very easy to use but I want you to start thinking about what is the area of focus because you're going to get a student scenario and Jacobs going to place you into breakout rooms in a moment so I'm good ask you to have access to this lesson planning documents and your specific scenario so breakout Room 1 you will have scenario the first scenario same with breakout to you'll do the second and they're labeled at the top scenario 1 2 and 3 what I want you to do is take a look at the student scenario have a conversation around what their needs are and then what isosy resources would you use when do you plan to integrate teaching English into the lesson could you potentially integrate literacy or math into this lesson and then I want you to think about granted we did not really get into looking at these yes I only mentioned pre and post assessments really looking at the tools for providing quality instruction will one we always want to use this strategy right we want to access their prior knowledge via pre-assessment we want make sure they understand the learning objectives are given opportunities to practice there's explicit vocabulary instruction and we checked for comprehension and then we do that post assessment checking for understanding and then if we had time we would also start thinking about these considerations right so we want to think about what strategies can you use to think about how to engage successful students we want to make sure we have an effective environment for learning we want to make sure that we have built a rapport with the students that we have begun relationship-building before we transition to instruction and then we want to make sure that we're utilizing a dog learning strategies and if you and we thought we could incorporate math with you don't make you change estimating literacy also with a lot of that with great vocabulary but also you do expanded on it and using stuff that closest curious about her that you did not know the store but yeah that we like those though maybe the finances instructional resources Force tattoo might be helpful okay why is it not hold on let me let me take you cuz I wanted to show you I love everything you said so this is another way to get directly to the student portal it's just osy Dash migrant versus osy migrant so you can do some of the enhancements that are on the portal with the convenience store so because keep in mind those stat lessons are not going to be the be-all end-all with the work so I left already that your group was thinking we could do this we could do that so if you go here we were on convenience store go to class work you can see o and this is another really good thing to know if your students do the preamp assessment here in the student portal They will receive an automatic email with their score so you can talk to them about what did you fit so it's another way not only to increase at technological literacy but it's also good the great that they are taking responsibility for their learning so so we have additional information here about the convenience store you no more vocabulary more videos sections of the convenience store the value of money which is great for you guys are already going there and then this okay I'm not going to do this with you now but remember earlier I had mentioned there was one one part of the student portal on the convenience store that people were like wow that's really hard will they designed a breakout room game around the convenience store so it's really fun and they've you got to give a little overview about helping Andy out by solving these problems in the store and its really sorry I had to get a drink on my break and that the door was open stalker but but check this out it's really fun so what else anything else from your group Greg that one thank you well that's what I mean that's the whole I'm here to make sure that you guys are seeing those connections the other thing too I would add is connecting it more to math is and you mentioned finances so there's all kinds of stuff on financial literacy you could you could tie into but we all I have a math series called Bonanza which has a section on budgeting which I love so yeah work awesome alright who do we have for scenario 2 that whole group didn't leave I was in that interacting with one another but I went ahead and looked so my focus was really on like the College and Career have within SOC and the like the sorry I had to leave for an appointment so I'm sitting in my car but I'm traumatized before I left but thank you for valuation the career evaluation tool and then click the goal-setting I think that's where I would start is just that kind of what we were discussing you know the goal setting because she doesn't see potential for herself other than what her parents are doing so that's where I would really start as using those resources to help her determine like is is nursing what you want to do is there something else that maybe you hadn't thought of that would interest you and I think those would be my like that would help me guide my next steps in the different resources that I would utilize I love it thank you so much for doing what you just did I really appreciate it but that's a great job awesome and yeah I think that's that's perfect I think that's good conversation about Hakeem and so we decided that also we would we would start with the goal-setting he talks about wanting to go back to high school not knowing where to start so starting there and within that he has a few immediate needs he's about to be a parent he's worried about budgeting and so we also looked at the stat lessons there are there's a parenting section with tons of great resources about health and the things that you need to do while your pregnant and then we also thought about the finance section that not the fight it's personal banking and numbers I believe what's the name of that and looking at that just kind of meds immediate needs and then going from there but really focusing on that long-term call me making that the main focus perfect you made all the connections I was hoping thank you so much so is lesser-known not a z i mean cuz they're older lessons we have that prenatal lessons on you know pregnancy labor and delivery car seat utilization so yes thank you for a connection and I love tying in the math pieces and all those financial pieces really great and the English for daily life lessons which we didn't get to cover today so really well
